Merry Christmas to you and yours, Susan! My favorite tradition is our family gathering on Christmas eve and enjoying our special Austrian cookies, Vanille Kipferl, a must have Christmas treat and tradition carried on from my parents.

We have breakfast casserole at 9:00, and then go to the living room to open presents. First, my husband reads his Christmas proclamation -- he is very creative and talented. We have to write clues about each present, which makes sense only after the gift is opened. The recipient is the only person who is allowed to make guesses. We laugh and have a lot of fun and cherish the day of family and love. Then we play games and eat special snacks/appetisers all day. Merry Christmas! Nancy B

Christmas Dinner with the family is at 5:00. After dinner the grandkids take turns reading about the birth of Christ from the Bible. Then, the youngest grandchild each year leads the singing of "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus" holding a treat with a lighted candle. Afterwards is the gift opening. Just good family time.
Merry Christmas!

Christmas dinner with my family. We do it up fancy. China, crystal, sterling flatware, linens and of course champagne. Fancy place cards.
I hope my children and grandchildren remember these many years from now...we have been doing this since they were born (children and grandchildren) and the grandchildren are now 28 to 18. Long live traditions updated for the time!

Merry Christmas Susan!
Thank you for the generous blog candy you are offering today..that is so sweet of you!
I'm not sure what my favorite Christmas tradition is, because there are so many, but I think our traditional brunch rates up there as number 1. The food never varies..it has to be authentic Polish kielbasa, potato and cheese pierogies fried with tons of onions, and a special egg casserole that's made the night before. Lots of coffee too! It's all so yummy and we've been doing this as far back as I can remember..back to my childhood! Traditions are so special, aren't they? But..it's fun to start NEW traditions too as families and life changes.
Wishing you God's blessings Susan and a very happy, healthy new year. Thank you for all your inspiration through the year.
Hugs over the back fence - Barbara

Christmas Eve church services are a must. Whether it's your own children or grandchildren or just church family, the reason for the season is celebrated

We have a tradition of a pickle ornament and the kids in the family try to find it on Christmas morning. The person who finds it leads the opening of presents. It's enough of a tradition that daughter #2 gave daughter #1 a pickle ornament when she got married. :) Ours broke last year and we had a hard time finding a replacement! The original was given to us by my husband's parents and came from Germany. Merry Christmas, Susan! Thanks for the opportunity!

Merry Christmas, Susan. We always go to my in-laws' house on Christmas Eve. We eat dinner and go to Mass then open gifts. For dinner we always have shrimp, stuffed artichokes and glazed carrots. Mmmmm good. One year my mother-in-law decided to have something different. All three of us were in shock..."where's our shrimp and stuffed artichokes?" We only have this once a year. She's never made that mistake again. LOL

My favorite tradition is giving everyone their special Christmas ornament for the year and then getting up in the morning and have traditional Christmas breakfast casserole.

One of my favorite traditions is having my lighted Christmas village in
our big bay window over the sink. When we first bought the house we're in now, I mentioned to my husband that it was a perfect spot for a lighted
village, which we didn't have, so he bought one for my birthday that year, which is Dec. 22nd, and we carefully place it and enjoy it each year. It seems to add light and joy to the whole house! A very Merry Christmas to
you and your family, including all the critters, and all the blessings of
a bright new year!

The favorite tradition at our house is me making homemade peanut brittle and peanut butter cups! My husband and kids can hardly wait until I make both of these sweets! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Merry Christmas! We are making tamales for the first time but if they turn out well we will probably make this a tradition. I just put an apple pie in the oven which is another tradition. And finally we live near the ocean so we go to the Christmas light boat parades are are two harbors every Christmas. It's fun to see the boats all lit up with Christmas lights!

For 48 years we have had Christmas Eve dinner at my Mother-in-law's. She is still at home. She no longer cooks the meal, but orchestras the festivities. I should probably mention she is now 98 years old. Merry Christmas to you, Susan.

My parents were British, so it was stockings in the morning and then gifts under the tree AFTER listening to the Queen's address. It would be killer if her address was not internationally broadcasted until the late afternoon! It certainly extended Christmas! Merry merry everyone!

Please share a tradition:
When we were kids we would bathe and go to bed. Our older sisters would come home from Midnight Mass and wake our brother, me and twin sis and pull out our pin curls and wash our faces and comb our hair. We would be given new PJโs and led down the steps, sleep still in our eyes to a world of wonderment. Mom did not have many resources but there would be gifts for older sisters, Pat and Doll, to share and for me and Sandy to share and a few for BoBBY. I think Aunt Ror helped with her contacts at Gimbles. We thought surely we heard sleigh Bells! It was the best day!!!!!!!!!

My sons are 39, 36 and 26 and we put out the same stocking they had as children...the oldest and 2nd oldest insist on the same grungie, falling apart memory filled stockings with finger puppets I made for them. About 3 years ago I bought new stockings but there was a mutiny when I gave them each new one. We had to go down into the basement to retrieve the old ones.
blessings
to you and yours

I make a new ornament each year and date it. I set aside one for each of my kids each year and when they got married, they got a box of 20+ ornaments for their own tree. Now I have been setting them aside for the grandchildren (11) for their weddings.

Merry Christmas Susan to you, your family & animal family. Our tradition is always getting together on Christmas Day at my youngest sisters house. We are a big family of 9, but has grown with all spouses, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, etc. Lots of noise, lots of laughs,& lots of food. One of the fun things is a unisex $10. gift exchange. Each person picks a number. When your number is called, You pick a gift open same. The next person can pick their own gift or take your gift, then give you an unopened one. Lots of hoot & hollering.
Some gifts go around several times. We usually number about 60 people throughout the day & evening.

We always read Luke 2-the true Christmas story before we open gifts...we eat lots & play games. The brother in laws always play risk :) Merry Christmas!
